SCAPE THANET ST, LONDON

INTERIOR DESIGN

Ab Rogers Design 2020

Conversion of the existing Lutheran Centre by Maguire & Murray Architects, 1970s for Scape Student Living with Stephen Marshall Architects.

The scheme includes 60 single studio bedrooms and communal areas for the students on ground floor.

The concept for the interior design focuses on complimenting the qualities of the building while upgrading the rooms to contemporary sizes and standards.

Lighting and services are incorporated within the joinery to minimise the interventions on the existing architecture.

The joinery is designed to fit a modest budget, with the focus on standardisation, avoiding waste of material and a bare material palette.

Humble birch ply panels with exposed edges and melamine faces in white, grey, and accent colours complement the original materials of the building while ensuring the robustness of the joinery.
